In addition to the organizers, who work year round to plan an awesome convention, we also need volunteers, called gophers, to make it all work at J-Popcon. A gopher has a number of shifts during the weekend, with the number of hours depending on the number of gophers volunteering. In return, we offer free access to J-Popcon.
At J-Popcon 2016 we offer free sleeping hall accomodation to all volunteers/gophers from Friday to Sunday.
Remember to bring your own warm sleeping bag and caramat. There is access to toilets and bath facilities.
Jobs are varied and might be; runners and stage hands, wardrobe attendants, cinema attendants, manga café attendants, gaming area patrol, dealer room patrol, reception, odd jobs, assistance during events and competitions.
You will become part of a group responsible for a particular type of tasks. This means that you will be wellinformed for your type of task, and not have to get introduced to a new task each shift. This is to reduce confusion and stress levels for our gophers.
Wishes will be taken into account as much as possible in the design of the duty roster, such as particular times, or if two gophers would like to work together or have the same time off. But it is a pusle to that needs to make overall sense.
After the convention J-Popcon will select the best volunteer/gopher with great prizes to be won.
