On Sunday the 27th of September DR, in collaboration with Copenhagen Games, will host an event in the DR concerthall, with focus on gaming and its related hobbies. J-Popcon has been contacted and have arranged a cosplay competition, which we hope you will help make a success.
This is a great opportunity to show Denmark what cosplay means to us, while having the chance to win amazing prizes.
The competition is an ordinary craft competition; this means that there is no need to make a performance of any kind. Just put on your favorite costumes, have a chat with the judges and show off your cosplay on stage!
You can use costumes that have previously been in other competitions. Just wear whatever costume you like best, because we would love to see it!
You can also wear bought costumes, as long as this is properly documented. Parts of the costume can be bought as well, but remember to tell this when you sign up and when you are talking with the judges, so credit can be given to the right people.
You have to show up for your assigned timeslot with the judges. If you are not present, you will be disqualified.
There is a maximum of 30 contestants and the sign up follows the first-come-first-serve principle.
This event is family friendly, so we ask cosplayers to wear appropriate costumes. This means if your costume shows an excessive amount of skin or is particularly gory, it might not be the right event to wear it. However, if you are in doubt, please feel free to write us at: cosplay@j-popcon.dk
This is not a rule, but the event is gaming related, so we encourage you to wear costumes from game-related series if possible.

There will be a room available for cosplayers to change into their costumes. There will also be a small sewing kit, with thread and needles, should it be necessary to fix a part of your costume.
There will be different categories, where you have the chance to win amazing prizes! They are as follows:
Best Craft. Here, the judges will look at the overall best crafted costume. They will look at the different techniques that are used, how the costume has been crafted and how it sits on the cosplayer. In short: the best costume. In this category, self-made costumes will be prioritized over bought costumes.
Best Look-Alike. Even if the crafting might not be the best of the bunch, then odds are you can still look so much like a character, that it’s almost scary. It can be with the help of make up or how you present yourself on stage.
Best Prop. With a lot of costumes, props help complete the whole look and just add that extra detail, that makes it perfect. And this is exactly why there is a prize for best prop.
Judges Favorite. Sometimes it’s the costume or the person, that just has something totally unique about them, but this might not fit into any of the other categories. Maybe there was a new and alternative technique used or the person had a special charm, just anything that makes the judges want to give this person a prize. This category is kind of a “joker”, where the judges themselves decide on what terms they want to give the prize.
