New craftsmanship rules: Participate with a used cosplay

Dec. 8, 2022

A few weeks ago, we opened the sign-up for our cosplayshows and as always we've enjoyed all your applications! But even though the sign-up is already open, we always listen to constructive criticism, so now we are happy to add a new – or rather an updated – rule to our craftsmanship competition!

For our craftsmanship competition, you have never been able to participate with a reused cosplay. As in, if you participated in another competition, whether you won or not, you could not have used the same cosplay at our competition. But we are changing that now!

To join our competition with a reused cosplay, you have to live up to these demands:

- Either, you must update your cosplay significantly from the previous competition. You have to document this with before and after pictures. You cannot have won anything in the competition.

- Or, you have used, but not won with the cosplay at a previous DCC (not the one held the day before). If the cosplay has been used in a previous DCC, you do not need to update your cosplay significantly. This means that if you e.g. participated in DCC 2021, you can participate in craftsmanship 2023 with the cosplay from 2021 without significant changes.

- Furthermore, you can only participate in the craftsmanship with a reused cosplay once, which means you cannot participate with the same cosplay year after year.

This rule also applies to J-Popcon 2023 – so the rule becomes effective immediately and you can sign up right now with a reused cosplay.

So, if you have a reused cosplay that deserves another round – and perhaps a chance to win a trip to our new qualification, @tournament_of_champions_yc – apply now!  We think it's an amazing opportunity for us to show how amazing crafters we have here in Denmark.

You can always find our rules on the page you find in our description. The craftsmanship rules are at the bottom of the page, but always check the chart at the top of the page too.
