Anime theme at Buster Filmfestival 2022

Oct. 4, 2022

We love when Danish cinemas have Japanese films on their programmes, whether it be live action or anime. There's nothing like seeing them on the big screen! This is why we are extra excited about the fact that Buster Filmfestival will have a special anime theme this year!

BUSTER is the largest Nordic film festival for children and young adults, and when it once again takes place during the next two weeks – from the 26th September to the 9th October – they are making an extra effort to bring in the Japanese. You can experience live dubbing of the classic Studio Ghibli movie Spirited Away in Danish, see the One Piece movie Stampede or Takayuki Hirao's Pompo: The Cinéphile.

We are especially thrilled that they also have the Danish premiere of Mamoru Hosoda's (Wolf Children, Mirai) new movie Belle – a movie that examines the internet and the digital realities' fantastical powers in a hybrid between the classic story of Beauty and the Beast and a coming-of-age story about 17-year-old Suzu, who is clumsy and shy 'in real life', but online is the persona 'Belle', one of the virtual world "U"'s most popular superstars. But it quickly becomes both very dramatic and dangerous in the virtual world.

You can find the full amazing programme in Danish here.
