Thank you for this year!

Oct. 19, 2021

J-Popcon 2021 is officially over, and all us organisers, trustees, and volunteers are now trying to cathc up on their lack of sleep and relax a bit, before we start again. In the meantime, we would like to share some information about this year's J-Popcon with you as well as about next year.

First of all, we would like to say a big, big thank you to everyone, who celebrated our 20th anniversary with us. J-Popcon is organised by fans for fans, and we do all this for you, our guests. We want to create an event that you think is awesome to attend and that's why we spend all our freetime and then some to organise Denmark's biggest convention every year. This year has been a special year - we couldn't celebrate our anniversary like planned in 2020 and it's been tougher than ever before. We have fought, waited, stressed, worried about what would happen, but it was all worth it in the end.

This year, we had over 3400 guests during the weekend, and we are still completely overwhelmed over this interest and support that you've given us. We can surely say that the amount of fans of Japanese popular culture in Denmark is growing and we are simply happy to be able to be a part of this with you.

J-Popcon 2021 was organised by 38 organisers, 48 trustees, 11 photographers, 57 gophers, and 35 maids and butlers, who together put endless hours into making everything run as it should during the convention and who made sure that all issues were solved. It's thanks to them and their hard work that we can have J-Popcon and they deserve all the thanks, praise, and glory they can get.

We can always use more people, so write and email to info@j-popcon.dk and keep an eye on our social medias and website when we announce our kick off event, if you want to spend too much of your freetime on being a part of making J-Popcon even better for every other congoer in Denmark!

Now for next year: Some of you might have heard this during the closing ceremony, when our chairma'am announced it, but next J-Popcon will take place in 2023. We know that this seems far way but we have our reasons for this choice. Our October date was due to the current conditions which forced us to move, and to have a convention in 2021 we had to move to the end of the year, even if we have had J-Popcon in the beginning of the year for the last many years. We wanted to do everything to have a convention in 2021, but at the same time we always wanted to move back to the beginning of the year. If we had to do that, though, we would now only have about four months to plan J-Popcon - and that is impossible. For the sake of our volunteers, our cosplayers, and our guests ass well, we decided to wait until 2023 and return to the beginning of the year. We will return stronger than ever with an amazing J-Popcon, and we are all looking forward to seeing you then in DGI-Byen again!

Finally, in behalf of all of our volunteers, we would like to thank you for an amazing weekend. You are the reason why we work so hard every year to make J-Popcon even better than the year before and even with severe lack of sleep, we are always full of energy after a weekend together with you in DGI-Byen.

See you in 2023!
