Amezaiku: Traditional Japanese candy art

April 17, 2015

From the Japanese Embassy and Club Nippon:

In cooperation with Torvehallerne and Sushi Lovers.

We would like to invite you to see the amazing event by  “Amezaiku (candy handcraft)” Amedenbei artist at Torvehallerne.

Amezaiku is the art of making “lollipops” by hand in amazing shapes. That still tastes deliscious!

The artist takes the very hot sugar and form it into cute and amazing shapes. The name of the Amezaiku artist is Mr. Kazutoshi Suzuki (known as Amedenbei).

Amezaiku artists are becoming rare in Japan even as all Japanese people fondly remember the amezaiku arts from the memories of “matsuri(festival)” in childhood. An amezaiku artist can make many different shapes upon request. Maybe a dragon, a pair of lovebirds or a Pikachu!

As the art of amezaiku, it takes great skill and time. Mr. Kazutoshi Suzuki can only make a limited number of lollipops. He will give them away for free with a priority for children.

Date: 27 April 2015, 15.00-16.00 pm.

Venue: Torvehallerne, Frederiksborggade 21, 1360 København K. by Nørreport.

The event will take place on the space between the two halls but in case of rain the event will move indoors to Sushi Lovers.

Program: Introduction.

Mr. Suzuki will make different shapes upon request.
