X-Men: Days of Future Past

Oct. 6, 2014

One of the best summer blockbusters of 2014, and one of the best X-Men movies, is coming home to you in October.

After directing the first two, and very successful films in the X-Men series, Bryan Singer returns and shows once again - why he is such a good director. The series dropped in quality with the third part, and X-Men: The Last Stand, directed by Brett Ratner, is the series weakest link. However, director Matthew Vaughn brought the series back on track with X-Men: First Class, which passed the test and delivered the goods.

X-Men: Days of Future Past does not hold back and plunges quickly into a complex story. The extensive team of superheroes is now fighting a war for the survival of mutants across two time periods. The famous characters from the original X-Men film trilogy, joins forces with their younger self from the past, and X-Men: First Class, to change a historical event and fight to save the future of mutants, from extinction and a nearly invincible opponent.

Bryan Singer keeps track of all threads in the complicated story, that includes both time travel, younger and older versions of the X-Men, an extensive character gallery and impressive special effects. All this without losing sight of the complex personalities that are characterized by intense emotions and great human sacrifies. Not exactly something blockbuster superhero movie are known for.

In X-Men: Days of Future Past it all works perfectly and the movie is simply superb popcorn entertainment, proving that superhero movies have more to offer than just big explosions and tight costumes.

The film is released on Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D and DVD on October 16. Later in the month various special editions of the X-Men series, including both films with Wolverine, is released.
