Charles Martinet - The Voice of Mario

We are proud to present the voice actor Charles Martinet as a guest at J-Popcon. From sunny California in the United States to the freezing cold Copenhagen in Denmark.

But we give him all a warm welcome, and if he freezes too much, so he can rest assured that Nintendo fans will stand in line and hand out warm greetings.

Charles is the voice of a multitude of characters from the Nintendo universe, but he is best known for Super Mario's distinctive voice. But also Luigi, Wario, Waluigi, Toadsworth, Baby Mario and Baby Luigi, have had their own personal voice-print by Charles Martinet.

Since 1990, he has collaborated with Nintendo, with its iconic voice acting, he has become a well-known personality in the gaming industry and has a large fan base of both children, adolescents and adults.

From 1995 and the first three-dimensional Super Mario game, his career really took off, and there's probably a few of J-Popcons visitors who has grown up with Charles Martinet's Mario voice, from their parents first purchase of a Nintendo console with Mario, to their own children and a new bunch of Mario fans.

The familiar voice can also be heard in other gaming universes, for example as the dragon Paarthurnax in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and Vigoro in J-RPG game Skies of Arcadia for Nintendo GameCube and Sega Dreamcast. Most recently, he voiced Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. And he is already working on new projects.

Charles Martinet visits J-Popcon every day, and while waiting for the final event-program, we can reveal that Charles participate in a Q&A panel with questions from the audience, as he talks about his work as a voice actor, and greets the audience during an autograph signing, and possible some gaming sessions with Mario Kart 8 in our Game Room.
